For My Ghostwriting Services:
Are My Writing Services Confidential?
-
Absolutely!
Your privacy and respect is my priority. All projects are handled with confidentiality and care. From the initial questions and Services of Agreement signing to the final draft, your ideas, identity, and intellectual property will remain secure. As your ghostwriter, I respect the trust you place in me, ensuring your story is yours alone to share and I don’t communicate or divulge any information about a project to another client—even if their books have a similar theme and nature of content.
Are There Any Additional Services That I Offer Aside From the Ghostwriting Novels?
-
Yes!
I offer a number of additional services outside the novel aspect. These additional services include:
-
Book descriptions
-
Beta–proof reading services
-
Individual poems
-
Individual recipes for humans and pets
-
Manuscript outlines
Is Anonymity A Pre-Requisite for Ghostwriting?
-
Yes, but with some exceptions.
As a ghostwriter, my anonymity is required when I complete your books because I don't own the rights to your book/s. My name on the cover or anywhere else would breach the ghostwriting contract we both sign when I start your project (regardless of the size and word count) and if I did that, I wouldn't be able to call myself a ghostwriter (nor would I have any clients).
When I write my own books and publish them on various channels (KDP, IngramSpark, Lulu, etc.) I use my name—well, technically my initials and surname. On the home page, the links to my books will be in my name because, as a writer, I still want to publish under my own name for the same reason you want to publish under yours!
My personal books are completely separate from the content I create for you as a client and none of my books will reference any of the titles I have written in my ghostwriting capacity, nor will the topics match what I write for clients.
On legal and financial documents you may receive as invoices and the NDA documents sent as part of the ghostwriting process, my full name will be shown because this is a requirement to do business as a freelancer in my country. In all other capacities, I go by Violet Wright, including the name I prefer to use on this website. If you know me personally, please respect my decision to remain as anonymous as possible and refer to me as Violet Wright or Violet when communicating on the website and/or optional forum. Thank you!
Why Is Ghostwriting So Expensive?
Hiring a Ghostwriter Like Myself Is Expensive for Several Different Reasons:
-
Active and Passive Income:
For novels, active income is the advance traditional writers (non-ghostwriters) receive when they start writing, and passive income is the ongoing book sales as long as these books are in the public eye. Traditional writers, for example, can earn up to $150,000.00 a year if they publish two books. As a ghostwriter, I lose access to active and passive because my name isn't on the book. As a result, I only get one payment (even if broken up into a payment plan).
-
Customized Content and Revisions:
Each of your books will be written and formatted how you want them. As your writer, I will ask as many questions as necessary for your idea on paper to shine. This process is both time-consuming and a personal journey for your book to become a reality. I want to get you to know you as well as necessary for your book to be a success and this means customizing my research, tone (for the book), and language to your preferences to ensure that when people read your book, it's your voice they hear, not mine. I also offer one free revision per book/additional service to ensure that the book I present to you at the end is exactly what you wanted.
-
Editing as a Writing Component Is Integral for the Success of Your Book:
Most traditional writers use editors and publishers as part of their writing service for a complete package, but I am not an editor so I can't send your book to one. Because of this, I use my basic editing skills as a writer to fix any spelling or grammar mistakes but for more structural editing, I use two programs: Authors A.I. (Marlowe) and ProWritingAid. The Pro versions of these two programs act as my in-house editing buddies to ensure your book is as polished as anything you see in bookshelves.
-
Research Is an Important Part of Non-fiction Writing:
I include extensive research as part of my services. This means time spent searching for articles that have value instead of using Google for my research, and for more in-depth books (like medical, historical, or political content, etc.), I need to purchase full volumes of journal articles if the accessible chapter isn't enough, or any free versions of the articles are available.
-
Writing Takes Time and Effort:
The expertise of the ghostwriter adds value to your book. These levels of expertise can't always be calculated: The writing styles I use, research methods, and vocabulary, among many others, are the result of years of practice, different writing courses, and an accumulation of knowledge over time. In my case, eight years of research experience after I completed my degree (a vital component of non-fiction writing) and four years of professional ghostwriting as a freelancer.
-
Additional Information on Ghostwriting Prices:
The style and content of ghostwriting materials is also a factor when considering the price. The average prices for ghostwriting services in the United States and Canada are as follows:
-
Business and/or finance books: $9000.00–$30,000.00 for approximately 50K-70K words.
-
Fiction (most genres): $6000.00–$12,000.00 for approximately 50K-70K words.
-
Memoirs or biographies: $10,000.00–$45,000.00 for approximately 50K-70K words.
-
Other non-fiction (self-help, history, celebrities, etc.): $7000.00–$20,000.00 for approximately 50K-70K words.
Although these prices are a range of what is accepted and expected of a ghostwriter given the expert level of research, time spent, and edits/formatting required, I think these prices are prohibitive. This isn't to say that I believe ghostwriters who charge these amounts are wrong or taking advantage! Everyone (including myself) has their own emotional, financial, and business expectations so it's only natural that the prices of ghostwriting services are all over the place.
I prefer a more realistic approach to ghostwriting and story-telling in general so I try to cater to as many people as possible. We all have a story to tell and I think the cost of something shouldn't be the driving point of our decisions. The goal of my greatly reduced prices compared to the current model is to give all of you a voice and a place in the literary world while I maintain the basic costs of adequate editing services, quality images, and a means to keep my own business afloat without drowning you in excesses fees.
Unlike other ghostwriting companies or content agencies, I work independently regarding every aspect of your project: Research, writing, editing (via editing programs), and formatting. My rates reflect the time and expertise I invest into your project and the personalized experience I provide to each of you since I only work with one client at a time. This may mean waiting periods but when it's your turn, my attention is undivided so my expertise can shine.
If you have any questions about my pricing—or if you think there must be a catch—please email me and I will answer any questions you have.
