Poetry Through the Ages Blog:

We’ve all seen a poem or heard a poetry reading at some point, and some of you may have given a poetry reading yourself. This is because poetry is eternal. There is a poem for everyone and at every stage of life. The poems that spoke to you as a child might seem mediocre now, but at the time, it was what you connected with.

  • When you read poetry now, how does it make you feel?

  • Do you feel sad because of the lost times discussed in the poem?

  • Do you feel happy that you can picture the images easily and be reminded of a pleasant time with your friends and family?

  • Does the poem make you think “What the fuck am I reading? This is so odd.”

All of these reactions and more are perfectly valid because they evoke emotion from you: The goal of art and literature in the first place.

  • Each poem will be released by 6 P.M. EST on Mondays.

  • Each new week starts on the first of that month, and the upcoming poem will fall in line closest to the Monday after the 1st.

  • On months with five weeks ( January, May, August, and October in 2025, January, May, July, and October in 2026, etc.) I will post on the final week of the month since there are only four slots per page, with some exceptions based on my schedule, etc.*
